Prosit

The last week I have been home from work, with the flu.

So I need something to cheer me up. How about the Silly Song (in Swedish) with the Seven Dwarfs from SnowWhite? :)

This song actually makes me think of Christmas... because in Sweden, at 3pm on Christmas Eve, (almost) everyone sits down to watch Donald Duck and his friends wish us all a Merry Christmas. :)

Colorful life

I was born this way

This is an Art Journal that I did for SweScrap a while ago.

The challenge was to start with a poem in the background and then build some texture on top if it.

I choose "I was born this way" by Lady Gaga, not a poem but a really good song with great lyrics. I used Modeling paste over a D.Downey/Prima Marketing mask, and then I cut the lyrics in small part and attached them across the page.

This is how my Art Journal turned out on my first try, but I thought that the background got to messy, with the lyrics all over the place...

... so I gave the page a second chance... This time attaching the lyrics in a straighter, more orderly, way. But I liked the picture of the woman, so I kept that.

With some yellow paint over it, I liked it a lot more than the first one. Not so messy. :)

I wanted the modeling paste to stand out some more, so I made some shadows with a brown Faber Castell Pitt Artist pen around it.  Love! :)

I also like that the lyrics are showing some. For me that is ok, since I know what it says any way.

As a final touch, I doodled some around the modeling paste with a black pen and stamped with some texture stamps plus black and orange ink pad. Getting it more grungy. See, there is a difference between grungy and messy. :)

Remember this:

Don't hide yourself in regret
Just love your self and you´re set
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way

On my craft table

This is how my craft table looked this weekend. :)

I created some Art Journals and watched "Fångarna på fortet" (a Swedish tv show) and "Heart of Dixie"(Love that!) on my computer. I felt that I needed to protect my computer from paints and mists.... so I used a piece of a used news paper.  :) There is not much room on my craft table for crafting, but I like to call it " Creative Chaos". :)

Fabulous

I love to try new fun techniques. I got this inspiration from my DTfriend MiaKL, when I looked through her Art Journal pad. Thank you sooo much for the inspiration! :)

Created for Scrap-Perra.

The technique is to use Liquitex Texture Gel in combination with Dylusions ink spray. I'll tell you about it later in this blog post.

I just love how this Art Journal turned out, with a funny twist. :) And it was so much fun to create as well. Let me tell you how I did it:

To prevent the mist from running through to the other pages, I added some tape at the spine. Later on I saw that the tape was too brown, so I covered it with gesso and mist...

On the left side, the side I will be working on, you can see that it is slightly bumpy... I stamped some left over Distress Paints on it, in white (Picket Fence). I'm curious to see if it will show. :)

First I misted some water on the page, then I misted three colors (Cut Grass, Calypso Teal and Fresh Lime ) of the Dyluisons ink sprays. Now there is a lot of ink on the page. Then I use another, torn out, page to mop up the excess ink. You can see that page to the right.

Then I misted some more water on to the page, but this time through a D.Downey mask from Prima Marketing. This picks up the color, and creates a ghosting effect. And on the mop up page, you can see when I stamped with the mask and the excess water.

A close up of the Ghosting effect, to the right. And on the left, you can see that the Distress paint stamping acted like a resists - just what I was hoping for. :)
Next I misted with Dylusions new ink spray - White Linen, through a TCW mask. White Linen is a mist that is slightly opaque, but it lifts up the color underneath it. Cool effect! :) And then I stamped with the mask and the excess mist on the right page.

And last I misted with Dylusions ink spray Calypso Teal through a Dylusions Alphabetical mask, and stamped with it on the right. Love all the layers this creates! :)

And now to the technique I was talking about in the beginning of this post. I used a Prima Marketing/Donna Downey mask - Grungy Chevron and Liquitex Texture Gel - Blended Fibers and had a blast. Yummy! :)

Liquitex Texture Gel is a kind of Gel Medium (Glue) with texture in it. It is white before it dries, so you can easily see what it will look like when you're working with it...

... but it dries transparent. This is a really fun effect when your using Dylusions ink sprays underneath it - because the texture gel will pick up the ink. Coool, right? :)

On this close up; you can also see the Ghosting Technique on the top left part of the photo, the misting through a mask on the middle right and the misting with White Linen on the bottom left. It is soooo much fun working with all these layers, and the characteristics of the Dylusions ink.

I borrowed the quote from one of Dyan Reavelrys quote stamps. And isn't she just sitting there, being fabulous? :) I love building up a fun scene with cut outs from fashion magazines and the Dylusions stamps.

I added a small rose to her hat, and the little guy sitting on here shoulder is actually mirrored from one of the stamps. I also added some doodling on all the details.

I stamped the Dylusions stamps on watercolor paper, and colored them with Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pen, before I cut them out.

The girl from the magazine didn't have a long enough skirt, so I added some patterned paper at the bottom. I also did some doodling, on the skirt, with a black and white and gold pen. :)

The Fun Theory

The Fun Theory is dedicated to the thought that something as simple as fun is the easiest way to change people’s behavior for the better. Be it for yourself, for the environment, or for something entirely different, the only thing that matters is that it’s change for the better.

The following videos show that fun CAN change people's behavior:

"Take the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator and feel better” is something we often hear or read in the Sunday papers. Few people actually follow that advice. Can we get more people to take the stairs over the escalator by making it fun to do?

Many of us return our plastic bottles and cans. Noticeably fewer recycle their glass. Maybe that's because we don't get any money in return, as we do for cans and plastic. Can we change this attitude by making recycling glass fun to do? So you are not just rewarded with a good conscience, you also get a smile.

To throw rubbish in the bin instead of onto the floor shouldn’t really be so hard. Many people still fail to do so. Can we get more people to throw rubbish into the bin, rather than onto the ground, by making it fun to do?

This is just amazing! :)

Love this!

This is soooo much fun! :)

I'm playing with Dylusions mists, clear gesso and dry glitter. What are you doing today?

The tables are full with stuff, we barely get any room for our creations... but that is part of the charm. Off to take a third (or fourth) look at the stores. :)

Good morning!

Here we go again!

Let's start a new happy fun creative scrappy day!

2 minutes till opening. Yeah!!!!

Saying Good Night...

.... and thanks for a wonderful day. :)

See you tomorrow!!!!

Scrapping away

The Scrap&Pearl Event is on it's 10th hour, and the creativity level is still high.

We've done some shopping, talking and laughing.... and some creating. :)

Maybe we are getting a little bit tired.... Can you understand how funny this washi tape wrath is that Hanna/Fnyz has on?

2 more hours to go today. :)

Almost

It's 25 minutes before Europe's biggest Scrap&Pearl Event is opening.

It's a little bit cold, maybe -2C, but it will be warm with creativity in an hour. :)

This is the queue in front of me....

... and this is the queue behind me.

Let's get this party started! :)

Looking forward to this

I've been looking forward to Stockholm Scrap&Pearl Event for a long time now, and tomorrow is it finally here. Yeah!!!

This is where I have spent the last 5 hours, helping Scrap-Perra unpack his store.

In only 12 hours there will be close to a thousand creative people sitting here chatting, painting, shopping, talking and of course doing some scrapbooking and pearling. :)

Hope to see you there! :)

Candy Time

I hope you're having a fantastic Easter holiday. I've spent mine with friends and family. That's the most important thing for me, and that is what Easter is for me...

... and of course CANDY! :)

And that is what this Art Journal is all about. :)

I started this by drawing a big Easter egg on a piece of watercolor paper. First I was thinking "How can I get the shape of an egg?".... but then it hit me - I can use an actual Easter egg and draw around it. :) The smaller eggs I drew by freehand. I just love to draw, it is sort of meditative.

While I was coloring the big egg, with my Faber Castell Artist Pit Pens, I decided to keep the smaller ones in black and white. That makes the page appear calmer.

As a background I used a "Mop up page" with Dylusions ink sprays, and a few masks from TCW. It is kind of hard to explain how I made this page... but it is basically first water and mists, then water through mask and last I stamped with some masks that still had paint/mist on them. Understandable? :)

When I was almost finished, I stamped with a texture stamp from KasierCraft and an StazOn ink pad in Teal to make the page more grungy.

On top of all the Dylusions mists, I added some Liquitex Gel Medium Glass Beads through a mask from Prima Marketing - I just love that effect. Since the Gel Medium dries transparent, the mists will show through while the Gel Medium creates a lovely texture. It makes you want to reach out and touch it. :)
