...on a higher level

The Fall Fearless and Fly #3 from Artists in Blogland:

Headline Prompt:  Triumphs and Defeats:  What do you see as your greatest triumphs or defeats?  What have they taught you?  Which have you learned more from?
Color Prompt:
Black and white
Quote Prompt:
Not in the clamor of the crowded street, not in the shouts and plaudits of the throng, but in ourselves, are triumph and defeat. - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I decided to go with the first and second prompt, for the third challenge. An Art Journal page about how I started my biggest Triumph - getting my Master of Science degree in Material Science and Biocompatible Material.

I started this page on a failed attempt of doing an image transfer... that I covered partly with gesso.

I worked with black Dylusions mist and white modeling paste, over two different masks. Dylusions normally react with their surroundings, and that was an effect that I used on this page.

Don't you just love this? I'm thinking that I want to make three canvases with this technique... in black/white, in pink/white and in turquoise/white.

The texture turned out amazing, and I highlighted it with a black stamp pad an a pen.

A close up of the modeling paste, the embossing and the texture stamps. Creating multiple layers is what's amazing thing with Mixed Media.

Fun! :)
